Colin Week!

Driving Great Grandpa Joe's new boat on the way to the area to fish. Note the juice box on the dashboard. :-)

Watching his sinker in case a fish actually gets on it.
If you are in Grandpa Joe's boat you must have snacks like cookies and cherrios.

Colin finally out of the car! Joe and Colin as they tried out the bench on the new sidewalk.

April Hikes to Lake Fort Smith & Devils Den

Todays hike was to Devils Den. We took the bike trail up to the creek crossing then back tracked (due to high water crossing. Sounds exciting doesn't it?) We saw deer and lots of pretty spring early violets. The little water fall was beautiful with the ferns starting to branch out near the edges.

You can't see the red buds and a few dogwoods trying to bloom out behind me, but they are there!
The waterfalls above and below are on the trail at Lake Fort Smith.

Well.... it looked like snow!

Our Bradford Pear is the prettiest it has been in several years. Usually it gets ready to bloom and then a major freeze wipes the buds out or a hail storm moves through and "whacks" them off!
Under the spreading Bradford Pear the village idiots stand...no that's not it. Under the spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands....blah blah Well, so much for poetry!

Hike in the flurries!

It's in the mid thirties and Barbara and I decide to hike Lake Fort Smith. There were flurries off and on all day! It was great. Barbara said she was going "Marge" like with her cool sock hat and glasses. Personally I think she looks rather stylish. (Tammy, you missed a great hike, lots of giggles and laughs!)
The first waterfall on the trail. Later up the trail there were a few daffodils starting to bud. Mine are blooming in the yard...just the old fashioned ones but at least we have some color in the yard besides the red birds. :-)

End of Feb. Hike

After Church we headed for Mount Magazine for a pleasant Sunday afternoon hike!
We parked at the Visitors Center and hiked the western part of the North Rim, up the road a bit and then on to the Lodge for lunch.
After lunch in front of the Lodge waterfall.
On the North Rim.
After lunch we took the Moss Ridge trail back across the mountain to the visitors center.
A Great Day!

Grandpa Joe's New Boat

Grandpa's newest toy. Bass Tracker -Sun Tracker 21ft 90hp (YES, it will pull skiers!)
These two are crazy!
This one has the changing area and toilet--(that part is down at this time, it's in the thing in front of Joe)
Proud new owners with their toy! Grandpa is having a fit...the weather is too windy and cold for him to take it out to start getting hours on the new motor! "-)
